If you read this, you are probably struggling with a baby that has colic or cramps. It may also that your baby presents with eczema or respiratory problems.
Contrary to what your pediatrician or clinic sister will tell you, everything that you eat has an influence on your baby. Anything you eat or drink gets digested and absorbed into your breast milk. Baby drinks that and it can cause digestive upset in your baby.
There is a smaller variety available for breast feeding mothers, and finding foods that are good for both baby and mother is by far the hardest part of breast feeding. It is important what condiments you use during cooking. The make of product i.e. Soya sauce, salt etc is extremely important, as some makes, add ingredients what gives baby cramps so easily and mother a hard night.
Absolute simplicity in the cooking is imperative.
· No sausage or any meat/fish in crumbs, no pork; not even bacon!
· No onions (raw or cooked) or green vegetables such as broccoli, beans, peas and cucumber.
· No coffee or sugar or artificial sweeteners.
·
· No soup powders, Aromat, Herbamare salt, curry, herbs or spices in fact -
· No wheat including foods like pasta, bread, whole wheat bread, muesli, muffins,
biscuits like cream crackers and pro-
Be very careful of breakfast cereals, they may contain any of the above or a combination thereof.
No dairy products including: milk, cheese, cream, cottage cheese yogurt etc, use rice milk when you need to use milk but I am still a bit careful about the rice milk as it is flavoured with vanilla, and I find that sometimes my baby cries if I drink more than 50 ml rice milk in a day soy (being a bean also causes cramps) Rooibos tea makes you acidic and can make you babies urine very acidic and eventually bring out a rash.
Drink only water with Coral Calcium sachets and/or Concentrace Drops (1 drop for ever 2 kg of your weight). This gives you the correct type of calcium and other minerals you need to supply your baby through your breast milk.
Here is an example of my menu when I breast feed. When you follow this menu for a week, and your baby is quiet, you can begin to add some of your favourite foods, one at a time. For example a dish with cooked onions, green beans etc. As your baby grows up, onions and green beans should not be a problem any more. BUT dairy, MSG, sugar and wheat will definitely still have an effect.
We believe in a mixed breakfast, and NOT only fruit/muesli and yogurt. Combining an animal protein and a carbohydrate is contrary to what many health gurus advocate, but we have found it extremely beneficial over many years. Doing this keeps the blood sugar level constant and allows you to go a lot longer during the morning without feeling hungry again. Remember that when you breast feed you output a lot, and if you start your day with a cereal or fruit and or yogurt you will feel your blood sugar dip very soon after breakfast. This could make your milk production drop. We find the same with children, that a mixed breakfast gives them better concentration. The same goes with toddlers, they are more able to keep themselves busy and there is less strife when they have a breakfast as I described. Some Sunday mornings we only eat muffins and rusks with tea, and then you can immediately see the effects on their temperament. The same goes for adults.
Breakfast normally consists of the following:
Spelt bread (Backed with Spelt flour with the Panasonic Bread Machine)
Fried egg, Boiled egg or scrambled eggs (to use butter is 100% please avoid margarine.) Yes it’s 100% OK to have egg EVERY day of the week. There is NO cholesterol issue…
No honey (I found that my babies get cramps from honey)
Also no jam or paté (e.g. Fish paste), only St. Dalfour apricot or peach jam. (Available from Pick & Pay or health shops)
I found that when you eat only wheat free bread, baked with Spelt, you don’t pick up weight. We believe only in the Blood group Diet: ‘Eat Right for your Blood Type’. I found a rusk recipe that worked with my other babies, but this baby cried a lot and I decided to leave it.
Plain Oat biscuits from Nairn’s (available in health shops) are generally ok to have.
Spelt bread sandwiches (Baked with Spelt flour) with the following fillings:
Leftover chicken from the night before
Tuna (in water)
Leftover mince(flavoured with salt, pepper and tomato)
You may add lettuce or tomatoes to spice it up.

4. Take the foil off and sprinkle sea salt or Himalayan salt over the chops, turn the chops over and sprinkle sea salt over the other side of the chops.
5. Grill the chops till they are brown and slightly dry.
6. Pour water into the oven dish to make sauce.
7. Mix about 2 teaspoons Bisto with a bit of water and pour water into the oven dish

Baby born via Caesarian Section?
When you have a vaginal birth, baby ingests some of the natural bacteria that lives in the birth canal. These bacteria is good and helps kick start baby’s immune system AND digestive system. This helps baby to be healthy and digest your breast milk well.
The problem comes when baby is born via Caesarian Section and do not ingest these friendly bacteria. We then more than often see baby cry from cramps, have lots of mucus in the ears, nose or tonsils. All these “symptoms” are then treated with an array of drugs, from antibiotics to immune suppressants and even operations.
The remedy is very simple, follow our dietary guidelines and give baby these friendly bacteria supplemental to breast milk. We always use ABC Dophilus by Solgar. You simply give 0.25 to 0.5 teaspoon to baby twice a day in the mouth. You may want to mix it with a drop or two of water or breast milk.
1. Make sure baby is neither to hot or cold, generally babies are calmer, being a little overdressed than underdressed – also…..check the nappy.
2. Give a chamomile powder and wait 15 minutes, if the crying continues then
3. Give baby one Spascupreel tablet, crushed finely between two teaspoons –this is a very effective and 100% safe antispasmodic remedy.
4. If you tried all the above, and baby still cries, get hold of a Chiropractor (with
experience with babies) Sometimes during labour baby’s skeletal system mis-
1. You may start by inspecting the gums, and find that they are not necessarily more red ir inflamed than normal.
2. You could try the remedies above, if that is unsuccessful then apply a little Traumeel S ointment on babies gums.
3. If baby is restless with or without fever, you may insert a Viburcol S suppository. It is 100% safe and natural and very effective.
4. As a general immune stimulant at the first onset of a fever we generally respond
by giving baby an Engystol tablet -
This can be due to baby being very acidic or teething. Try the following.
1. Apply a little Squaline after every nappy change.
2. If the problem persists mix (in your hand) a little Traumeel S ointment and Squaline together and apply to the affected area.
3. Wash baby’s bottom if needed, with lukewarm water only.
4. Any dry spots on baby’s skin can be treated with Squaline. This is for external use only.
As a breastfeeding mom, your baby takes a lot from you. This is natural and your body is made to handle it. With today’s stresses and generally depleted foods, it has become necessary to take a few supplements to your general diet. Again, your dietician, paediatrician, gynaecologist or GP is not trained to advise on these and other natural supplements. As far as their training goes, you get every thing from your food. The fact that modern day agricultural methods deplete foods of essential micro nutrients is not part of their thinking.
1. Start by taking a good multi vitamin formula. I recommend High 5 from Viridian. One capsule with breakfast should be sufficient.
2. Take Omega SLO. I recommend this particular omega 3 as it contains , alkoxyglycerols, a natural substance found in mother’s milk. This will strengthen your milk and aid baby’s development, as well as protecting and nourishing your own body.
3. Drink PLENTY filtered water, drink PLENTY filtered water, drink PLENTY filtered water, drink PLENTY filtered water – you get the picture? You also need to get minerals to aid all the processes in your and baby’s body. I recommend adding one coral calcium bag to every 1.5L of water. A breastfeeding mother can easily drink 4L of filtered water daily – to supply in the lactation needs of baby.
4. If you are taking the above but the stress of a new baby and life in general is getting you down, you may want to add Mindset to your supplementing regime. Mindset is 100% natural and safe for you and baby. Stress also makes it difficult for your body to produce enough milk. It supplies food to the brain, thus aids the body’s ability to regulate stress response, focus and sleeping patterns. Best taken away from your meals.
5. If you are doing every thing I mentioned, but your milk supply is still struggling,
try supplementing with Fenugreek capsules. This aids greatly in stimulating lactation.
Avoid taking Eglonyl for lactation stimulation. Contrarily to your doctors advise,
Eglonyl is a dangerous Schedule 5 mind-
6. If you have sore nipples, make sure baby latches correctly. Get baby to open wide and get the nipple as far into the mouth as possible. Apply a little Lansinoh ® or Kamillosan ointment from Heel, before and after feeding to your nipples. It’s 100% safe for babies. You may also want to use NUK nipple guards, which prevents clothing from irritating your (tender) nipple.
7. In the first few days of breastfeeding you may first have very little milk, but
then the milk producing glands start functioning, resulting in the production of
more milk than what baby is used to. This can possibly result in swollen breasts,
which can really be very painful. The remedy for this is for baby to continue to
feed (amidst the pain) and to put raw cabbage leaves inside your bra. This is an
age old remedy, don’t scoff at it -
8. Stretch marks respond very well to Squaline. Apply a little to any stretch mark, wrinkle sore nipple. You can safely use it as a personal lubricant.
Hope this helps. Please ask if you have any other queries.
Strength and lots of love.
